IRAN TO REOPEN FOR OFFSHORE VESSEL OWNERS

There should be plenty of opportunities for offshore support vessel owners in the northern portion of the Persian Gulf with the expected return of Iran to the global oil industry. International economic sanctions are expected to be lifted to enable Iranian authorities to attract fresh investment in the offshore oil and gas sector. Already, the Oil Ministry has offered 52 oil and gas development projects, of which 18 are offshore, plus several exploration blocks. Under new petroleum contracts, National Iranian Oil Co (NIOC) will run joint ventures with international companies, which will be paid a share of the production.
