Lead exposure at factory

Glass maker, Staffordshire Crystal Ltd, has been fined ￡3,600 after admitting failing to assess the risks to workers at its factory from exposure to lead. Stourbridge and Halesowen magistrates court heard that levels of lead contamination at the factory were found to be above the occupational exposure limit, but the company, which produces lead cut crystal items, had not carried out sufficient risk assessments and had not implemented suitable control measures to protect employees from serious risks to their health from lead exposure.
