Employment Tribunals received a total of 218,100 claims between 1 April 2010 and 31 March 2011.The figure is 8% down on the previous year's total, but is 44% higher than in 2008-09. The largest number of cases in 2010-11 were related to the Working Time Directive (114,100 cases), followed by cases concerning unauthorised deductions from wages (71,300), unfair dismissal claims (47,900) and breach of contract and equal pay claims (34,600).
