COOPERATING ON FLU

The Co-operative Group has launched what is believed to be the largest flu vaccination programme by a private company in Europe. Over 100,000 Co-op employees who work in more than 4,500 locations across the UK are being offered the free flu jab at one of 42 workplace clinics or in one of the firm's 400 pharmacies. The Co-operative estimates it will save at least £1 million a year if 75% of its workforce takes up the offer. The vaccination contains the H1N1 (swine flu) strain in line with WHO recommendations, and has been ordered from stocks outside those allocated for the NHS. The company is also offering the vaccination to consumers and other businesses for £ 11.
