On the software front, one of the most notable new concepts takes the form of MediaMined™ - a joint development from Imagine Research and the National Science Foundation . According to Imagine, this MediaMined is "the world's first sound object recognition web service. MediaMined identifies and labels sounds, making media files searchable and adding a set of ears to cloud computing." The patent-pending concept is a response to the realization that search routines are pretty good at finding text-based materials but very bad at pulling up audio and video files. If an A/V file isn't tagged with the appropriate keywords, it may essentially disappear.
