French nuclear safety panel focuses on transport, confidentiality issues

France's High Committee on Transparency and Information on Nuclear Safety, Hctisn, started work June 18 by opening a debate on transport of plutonium from the UK to France and agreeing to study the relaxation of confidentiality rules that are often evoked to prevent public access to nuclear information.rnSenator Henri Revol, Hctisn chairman, said he wants the committee to investigate "thoroughly" how the public can be given greater access to information on nuclear safety while respecting the "limits" dictated by national security and commercial confidentiality.rn"We have to find ways and means" to allow the public access to the information it requires, Revol said in an interview June 19.
