Bangladesh seeks to build second nuclear plant, project official says

Bangladesh has decided to build another nuclear power plant after completion of the construction of the country’s first such station — the Rooppur plant at Pabna in northern Bangladesh, project director Shawkat Akbar said in an interview Oct. 12. The country’s prime minister Sheikh Hasina disclosed the government plan on Oct. 10 while marking the start of the final stage of installation of the reactor pressure vessel, or RPV, at the 1,200-MW capacity unit 1, which started on Sept. 14, Akbar said.
