DOE funding should boost utility participation in SMR project, UAMPS says

The Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems believes a $1.355 billion DOE award will help attract non-member utilities in the West to participate with the consortium in a 720-MW small modular reactor project involving NuScale Power. The consortium, also known as UAMPS, announced Oct. 16 that DOE had approved the multi-year award , subject to continued legislative appropriation, for a NuScale SMR plant comprising 12 60-MW reactor modules at DOE's Idaho National Laboratory.
