Coalition Files Lawsuit Against California Government Agencies

A coalition of environmental and consumer organizations has filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Toxics Substances Control (CDTSC) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to stop the demolition and disposal of material from buildings at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory. Consumer Watchdog, Physicians for Social Responsibility-Los Angeles, the Committee to Bridge the Gap and Southern California Federation of Scientists allege that the activities are putting the public at risk by allowing low-level radioactive waste from the former nuclear research facility to be disposed of in landfills not licensed to receive such material.
