Nevada has filed a 1566-page petition to intervene in the licensing proceeding for the Department of Energy's Yucca Mountain repository project. The petition, submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on December 19, states in part that Nevada has standing to intervene because it would "suffer numerous concrete and specific injuries" should the repository be licensed. The petition contains 229 challenges to the DOE's license application, which was submitted to the NRC last June.
