Regulatory peer reviews held in Romania and Spain

The International Atomic Energy Agency's Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) undertook missions to Romania and Spain in the first weeks of 2011. The IRRS is designed to help strengthen national regulatory infrastructures for nuclear, radiation, radioactive waste, and transportation safety, and for the security of radioactive sources. IRRS missions are peer reviews conducted at the request of states. The review process compares a state's nuclear and radiation regulatory infrastructure against international standards and guidance and, where appropriate, good practices elsewhere.
