NuScale Power explores possible manufacturing partnerships

NuScale Power LLC, a U.S. company developing small modular reactor (SMR) technology, has issued a U.K. prospectus to explore possible partnerships to manufacture its reactor-the NuScale Power Module (NPM)-in the United Kingdom for the domestic and European markets. The prospectus, released on October 5, highlights a potential global SMR market estimated to be worth $600 billion by 2035. NuScale Power, whose primary investor is Fluor Corporation, says it is on track to submit its technology for design certification by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission next year and expects to receive regulatory approval in the early 2020s, paving the way for deployment of its first unit in Idaho by late 2023.
