Feeler head for detecting high frequency changes in a gramophone record groove moving at a moderate forward speed in relation to the total movement of the head, comprises a fine diamond crystal made synthetically having its natural crystalline faces and edges in the surfaces and edges of the crystal and located at specific angles w.r.t. the forward direction of movement of the feeler head. The faces and edges may be coated with a protective laer of B2O3 or SiO2 to enhance the wear resistance.
