Early-stage pact signed for study of South Korea's SMART reactor

Two South Korean-designed small modular reactors (SMR) could be built in Saudi Arabia under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) concluded by the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), which developed the SMART (System-integrated Modular Advanced ReacTor) technology. The MOU was signed on March 3 during a visit to Saudi Arabia by Korean President Park Geun-hye, who held a summit with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. The two leaders attended the signing of the MOU after their meeting.
