Nuclear power and climate change talks

At the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Lima, Peru, in December 2014, an eleventh-hour compromise was reached as all of the participating nations agreed to develop plans on their individual emission cuts by March 31, 2015. The goal is to establish a framework for an agreement to be signed at the Paris Climate Change Conference in December 2015, with the plan to be implemented starting in 2020. The nuclear generating industry should view the ongoing climate change discussions as an opportunity for the growth of nuclear power as the United States and the world struggle with energy issues and their impact on the U.S. and global economies.
