But at The Monitor Group in Falls Church, Va., investment adviser Lynn Hopewell hasn't been clinking champagne glasses. Hope-well, who's been ranked among the country's top financial advisers by Money and Worth magazines, earned his reputation by keeping his eyes off the ticker. His advice to the Dow watchers: ignore the market's ups and downs and spend your time designing a portfolio of mutual funds that will perform well in any market. He told NEWSWEEK'S Daniel McGinn how.
