Loree moser is a typical doting mother, with pictures of her son, Matthew, dispersed around her Redwood, Calif., home. But one picture isn't quite like the others. It's a pinup photo of Matthew, greased and shirtless, a bulging bicep propped up on a tree branch.Matthew's no underwear model-he's a Mormon missionary, recently returned from Namibia, where he helped administer polio vaccines. But he's one of 12 "Men on a Mission" featured in a 2008 calendar-both in and out of their uniform of white button-down shirts and name tag-that's causing a stir months after its launch. Chad Hardy, the 31-year-old sixth-generation Mormon and Las Vegas businessman who's the brain behind the brawn, was excommunicated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints last week-despite what he calls a successful effort to highlight the faith's civic contributions.
