Status und Perspektiven im Programm Nanotechnologie

Nanotechnology is assumed to be one of the most important key technologies of the 21 st century. Sales related to nanotechnology influenced products is expected between 350 and 1100 Billion Euros in 2015. The programme nanotechnology is intended to support industry by fundamental research and transfer scientific results into applications and the industrial reality. Basically the programme is active in two important areas of nanotechnology: Molecular electronics and nanomaterial research. An important part of the future strategy of the programme is the merger with the programme microsystems technology and the increasing incorporation of biological aspects. Following the suggestions of the evaluation committee it is planned to build up "a state of the art nanofabrication".
