Prof. Minoru Isshiki and his research team of the Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, Tohoku University, have succeeded in developing ultra-pure iron featuring a purity level of 99.9999% (6-nines purity level) by a new type of ultra-pure metal preparation technology based on the anion exchange process. This new process is a simple process that controls the valences of the impure elements in solutions to improve the efficiency of impurity removal, and is also applicable to mass production.
