I've just seen a sword-swallowing act. Swords seemingly longer than the depth from throat to anus were swallowed. It has to be a trick, doesn't it? If it is, what's the trick? If it isn't, what's going on?rnThe taller you are the more sword you can swallow, but it cannot go past the pit of the stomach. And that is one thing that sword swallowers have to get used to - the feeling as the point of the sword arrives there... just touching, and no more. This is why some swallowers eat heavy food just before performing, to stretch the stomach a bit so they can swallow a longer sword.
