Toyota To Increase 'ecological Plastic' In Vehicle Interiors

Toyota Motor Corp has announced plans to increase use of plant-derived, carbon-neutral plastics in more vehicle models, starting with a hybrid vehicle this year. Toyota's newly developed plastics, collectively known as 'Ecological Plastic', will be used in the manufacture of scuff plates, headliners, seat cushions and other interior vehicle parts. During 2009, Toyota intends that its Ecological Plastic will account for approximately 60% of the interior components in vehicles that feature it.
