Once again I'd like to ask for your attention and support in helping to ensure that nominations are submitted for people you consider to be worthy of recognition through ASNE's annual Awards Program. One of the important functions of the Society is to highlight important accomplishments in our profession and give recognition to those who have truly demonstrated excellence in naval engineering. In early November every member should have received the ASNE 2007 Annual Awards brochure in the mail, and copies were also sent to major government and private sector organizations with an accompanying letter urging the submission of nominations for all of our major awards. Note however, that award nominations do not have to come from companies or from government organizations. Many of the local ASNE sections submit nominations and many successful nominations are submitted by individuals-people like you who are willing to take the time and effort to write and submit nominations for people you know and have observed to be doing excellent work in the field of naval engineering. Your first hand observations can be key to helping a dedicated and hard working engineer get the recognition he or she deserves for contributions to our profession.
