This issue of the Naval Engineers Journal includes profiles and award citations for the Society's major award winners for 2009, and I hope you'll take the time to read about them and their very impressive accomplishments. They are all very highly deserving of the recognition of their peers as represented by these awards and they have all demonstrated the dedication and commitment to excellence that are truly the hallmarks of our profession. However, I often hear from people who wonder why someone they know and admire has never received similar recognition.
