SECRETARY'S NOTES

In recent issues of the Naval Engineers Journal I have indicated that the coming year would be a time of transition, and in this issue ASNE President CAPT Glenn M. Ashe, USN (Ret.) provides a preview of developing plans for the restructuring that we aim to pursue. Now, as we look ahead to calendar year 2014, these changes will become more apparent as the new year proceeds. The changes we contemplate will, of necessity, be more evolutionary than revolutionary; but we must pursue them with alacrity because it is clear that the successful activities of the past will not sustain us into the future. The sharing of technical and programmatic information will remain a core function of the Society, but we must expand and improve the ways we deliver that information because the expectations of those we serve are evolving quickly.
