Why e-Rx is not easy

Estimates for the total cost for all medical errors in the United States approach $37 billion annually. A significant fraction of those errors involve prescription drugs, and medication errors result in more than 7,000 deaths and at least $2 billion in additional hospital costs annually. Despite these sobering statistics, the healthcare enterprise does not have in place a system that leverages computer and networking technology and addresses these medical care delivery dysfunctions.
