It's not all rocket science Cosmology is traditionally the province of theoretical physicists, feeding off observational scraps brought to them by astronomers using costly telescopes and cunning methodology. But there is another way. Physicists working with condensed matter systems are close to creating black-hole-like event horizons and analogues of other cosmic events in the lab.
