Individual offices have become a thing of the past in many workplaces. Not only have open plan arrangements become common, but also staff members may not have a desk they can call their own. With intra-office 'nomads' part and parcel of some offices, their "non-territorial" environment might involve them using "hot desking" (unreserved seating) or 'hotelling' (reserved seating). These practices aim to maximise use of the available space, but they can also result in less than ideal work conditions. National Safety talks to Occupational Therapist/Ergonomist Helen Moody about how to ensure office 'nomads' have healthy workplaces where they feel in control.
