Retail bosses failing compo test

In March, WorkCover Queensland uncovered a significant proportion of retail employers that were failing to comply with their compensation obligations. The noncompliance came to light during visits that WorkCover made to employers and tenants in 20 major shopping centres in greater Brisbane, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Bundaberg, Mackay, Cairns and Townsville. At the time, WorkCover's website said it was halfway through a 12-month workers compensation education and awareness campaign. Of the 329 employers visited so far, 59 were found to be noncompliant with their workers compensation obligations; of this group, 95 per cent were uninsured for workers compensation.
