Regular owners found the Caribbean market to be an uneventful place. Contractual demand was solid, whereas spot demand just about kept pace with the supply of tonnage, chiefly because of caustic and ethanol, with an occasional molasses or vegoil movement. The market into South America was heavily contracted this month, which did not leave a great deal of space for spot cargoes, which therefore kept rates firm.
