Bulk carriers

With April dominated by national holidays from east to west, dry bulk S&P activity was reduced: reported sales fell by approximately one-third from March's sales board. The nationality of buyers in the business that did ensue was widely spread, with Norwegians joining the normal active players from Greece and China. As we write, we are seeing increased activity for very modern units (i.e. those 5 years old and younger). This could suggest that we could see a rise in secondhand values for ships built in Japan and Korea that are under 10 years old; if this does materialise, it could be seen as an opportunity for shipyards to increase newbuilding prices.
