USG/Far East routes were active at the start of the month but tailed off mid-month in anticipation of the Chinese New Year holidays in Asia. Further issues were a shortage of certain grades of chemicals that were in demand, such as styrene, ACN and glycol, the result of plant issues in the USG. Further complications arose when the Chinese authorities imposed an anti-dumping duty on US, Korean and Taiwanese styrene with immediate effect. Other than that, cargoes of methanol, ethanol, EDC, phenol and ethylbenzene were noted. Rates were stable through the month.
