VIRGIN PREPARES FOR SHREWSBURY

Virgin trains operated a press run between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury on 4 November to herald the start of the new direct link between Shrewsbury and London Euston.The first trains will run on 14 December, with calls at Wellington and Telford Central en-route to Wolverhampton. There will be a range of advance fares, starting at £10.50, to encourage people to take a journey to London. Virgin introduced a direct service to Shrewsbury in May 1998, but this was withdrawn a year later due to poor patronage; the Wrexham & Shropshire service to Marylebone also failed.
