摘要

In this paper, the propagation of a converging cylindrical shock wave in a non-ideal gas in the presence of an azimuthal magnetic field, is studied by using Whitham's Rule. The shock velocity and other flow variables just behind the shock are determined in the cases, when (Ⅰ) the gas is weakly ionized before and behind the shock front, (Ⅱ) the gas is strongly ionized before .and behind the shock front, and (Ⅲ) the non-ionized gas undergoes intense ionization as a result of the passage of the shock. It is found that the non-idealness of the gas and the azimuthal magnetic field have significant effects on the shock propagation.
