HERE to showcase cellular traffic management system in Amsterdam

Mapping company HERE is working with the Dutch government to explore how a cellular-based network could improve road safety and reduce traffic jams. Under the terms of the deal, HERE will trial a cooperative intelligent transportation system (C-ITS) for the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. This system uses 3G and LTE networks, as well as cloud technology and data analytics to connect cellular devices, infrastructure on the road and traffic management centres. HERE said the system would lead to low latency information, about an accident for example, which could be sent to the road users who need it.
