One of the most innovative councils in England is expanding its public health team to tackle the ongoing Covid pandemic as well the health inequalities it has exposed. Staffordshire County Council has created two new posts of Assistant Director, Public Health & Prevention and Consultant, Public Health. Dr Richard Harling, the county's Director of Health and Care, says both postholders 'will play a key role in our response to the ongoing Covid pandemic as well as our ambition to inspire healthy independent living. They will join our established and high performing public health team and provide the leadership to take them to the next level of excellence.' Staffordshire is one of the largest counties in England with historic market towns and picturesque villages as well as great connections to Birmingham, London and Manchester. The Council is known for being innovative with high performing services, a focus on digital delivery and stable political and managerial leadership. Dr Harling adds: The Council is optimistic about the future and ambitious for our residents. We want even more people to share the benefits of economic growth, to be healthier and independent for longer, and to feel safer, happier and more supported in their community.
