摘要

The Government has agreed to relax rules to allow councils to provide more services to European Economic Areas (EEA) nationals as part of its plans to help rough sleepers stay off the streets. Following the Government's Everyone In initiative, which saw rough sleepers taken off the streets and rehoused in emergency accommodation, the Local Government Association called for an easing of the rules to allow councils to help those not usually able to access services. Now the Government has announced a further batch of funding to support rough sleepers - and said it will relax the rules on EEA nationals. The £105m new funding -which takes the funding for rough sleepers to more than half a billion pounds - is intended to bridge the gap between the current emergency accommodation and longer-term re-housing. The money comprises £20m of reallocated existing funds and a further £85m in new cash. An additional £16m has been allocated for drug and alcohol services to help rough sleepers resettle. In May, the Government announced £433m for long-term housing to re-house those brought off the streets.
