Tower Hamlets to take waste services back in-house

Waste services at Tower Hamlets LBC are to be brought in-house as the council aims to exercise greater control.Senior councillors have agreed to establish a waste collection, recycling and street cleansing service to take over from contractor Veolia when its agreement ends in March 2020.Mayor John Biggs at a summit on waste earlier this year said he wanted to have greater flexibility and control around provision and to increase recycling.
