Cardiff BID to raise £1.5m

Plans for two new business improvement districts (BIDs) in Wales are taking shape, including one in the nation's capital city, Cardiff. Business leaders in Cardiff launched a draft plan last week for a BID, which aims to raise £1.5m from a 1% levy of eligible firms to pay for infrastructure improvements. The Cardiff BID taskforce proposes to make smaller firms with a rateable value of less than £25,000 exempt from the levy. Taskforce chair and local Marks & Spencer store manager, Simon Philips, said the time was right for a BID in the city.
