I take issue with the description used on the front page article, 'The Baby-boomer Bill' (The MJ, 16 September) which, in reporting on the Public Services Trust report, described 'non-essential services such as libraries and leisure centres'. The question needs to be asked, by whom arethese services viewed as non-essential?While these services may not enjoy statutory status, they are essential to the quality of life and, indeed, life chances, of old and young alike in our communities.
