Well, I have reached the end of a long but productive period of reading the 24 entries and receiving presentations from the five shortlisted local authorities-Cheshire West, Derby, East Riding, Staffordshire and Thurrock-for The MJ Management Team of the Year Award. I can, along with my fellow judges, assure you that good management is alive and well in local government.While the entries were from authorities varying in size and scope, and the challenges for each authority were different, there were common themes emerging that demonstrated what good looked like and what impact good management (and consequently bad) had on an organisations health, wellbeing and performance.
