The National Planning Policy Framework celebrated its first birthday last week, and I think it is fair to say that the occasion passed with rather less furore than the christening. The document was quick to bed-in and it is becoming increasingly apparent that its most vehement critics were way off beam, and the doomsday preppers got it wrong. Developers haven't been given carte blanche to do as they please and our countryside is still as green and pleasant (and cold) as ever.
