摘要

Care bosses have hailed new government rules as a step forward to 'a safer future' for children in residential care. Speaking to The MJ, the president of the Association of Directors of Children's Services, Andrew Webb, said the new rules, which were published by the Department for Education (DfE) on 3 January complement some of their own proposals about residential care. Under the new rules, homes must tell councils when children move into and out of the area and can only open in 'safe areas'. All staff and managers will have to be suitably qualified and the DfE said it will work with Ofsted to ensure 'good' is the only acceptable standard.
