High staff turnover blow to county's children's services

Too many Gloucestershire children are experiencing frequent changes of social worker more than a year after the county council was judged inadequate by Ofsted.An Ofsted monitoring visit found that despite 'positive progress' Conservative-led Gloucestershire CC was still challenged by high staff turnover.Since the last inspection, the local authority has reconfigured children's services, reducing the size of teams and increasing management capacity to improve the effectiveness of social work practice and performance, as well as management availability to staff.
