Driving the regional agenda

Two-thirds of people in County Durham want the right to vote in a referendum on the Government's proposal to establish a regional assembly in the North East. This desire to exercise their democratic rights should not be interpreted as an outright demand for regional government. In tact, our survey of 32,000 households in County Durham resulted in 21.7% of respondents explicitly stating that they favoured the establishment of an assembly and 25.1% explicitly against. This leaves a silent majority still to make up their minds.
