25 years of Rover's RSP

On 10 July 1990, Rover, helped and encouraged by John Cooper, introduced a limited edition Mini, later known as the RSP (Rover Special Products) Cooper. Production was limited to 1,650 cars, 1050 for the UK market and 600 for overseas. It was such a success that it soon sold out, firmly re-establishing the Cooper name in the Mini range, firstly with the Mainstream Cooper, then the injection cars, the SPi, and MPi Coopers and other limited edition cars, up until the end of Mini production just over 10 years later. The RSP has become something of a cult car, encouraged by the RSP Cooper Register which was started by Dean Davies in 2000 and is now in the capable hands of Registrar Roger Hunt.
