Mini Moke Club National Rally

Based at the Green Caravan Site and The Inn on the Green at Wentnor, in the shadow of the Shropshire Hills, over the weekend of 17-18 July, the location could not have been bettered for scenery, facilities and access to other landmarks via the lanes of the county. Over 30 Mokes attended from all around the UK, carrying in excess of 60 club members who travelled on three routes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday afternoon saw select and stalwart Mokers take to the green lanes to the north of the campsite, accessed by the rather steep National Trust Long Mynd road. After tackling a combination of white and unclassified roads over three hours the convoy arrived back for a fish and chip supper on the by now sun-filled terrace of The Inn on the Green. Less arduous routes over the weekend took the Moke convoys through picturesque lanes to Ironbridge, the Severn Valley Railway Museum, Clee Hill and Ludlow on one day and then Stokesay Castle, Wenlock Edge, Much Wenlock and Wroxeter Roman town. Both routes were achieved in temperatures of 30 degrees and it was the top-down experience that club members had been craving.
