Demand For OCC, Other Grades Remain Soft

Demand for Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) is soft in many areas across the country, along with a majority of other paper grades, report RM sources. "OCC demand seems to be level with most mills getting their feet back on the ground from large inventories," said one scrap recycler based in the Southeast. There have been price drops in Sorted Office Paper, Mixed Paper, and some other paper grades, as many mills are reporting full inventories of these grades. "There is an overabundance of ONP out in the market," noted another scrap recycler based on the East Coast. Pulp substitutes appear to have bottomed out, our sources report.
