Speakers Discuss Challenges For MRFs

More communities are adding more materials to the recycling stream and that has the potential for affecting MRF operations. Speakers discussed these issues at the Paper Recycling Conference held last month in Chicago, Illinois. "Our goal is getting glass out of the sys-tem," said Sean Duffy of ReCommunity, a recycler which operates 31 MRFs across the country. He noted that his MRFs are set up with glass-breaking screens, eddy screens, ferrous metal magnets, ONP Disc Screens, Polishing Screens and Optical Sorters.
