The electronic control device comprises a shear stress sensor (1), an evaluation electronics unit (2) and a controller (3). The shear stress sensor is accommodated in the MRF brake, for measuring the shear stress of the MRF brake. The evaluation electronics unit is attached to the shear stress sensor, for producing analog and digital signals equivalent to the shear stress. The controller is provided for outputting a manipulated variable with respect to the change in current of a coil (6).
