This month brings to an end my four years as president of the International Dairy Federation (IDF). The new incumbent will take the reigns at the end of the IDF World Dairy Summit in Mexico City. For me it's been a rough but pleasurable ride. I've been able to balance the work of the IDF with the complexities of the evolution of Dairy UK, by being selective in my interventions in the IDF and because of the very high quality of staff at home. I've said many times that I wish every member of the British dairy industry could be the president of the IDF. This is because it opens your eyes to how industries can operate under massively different economic conditions, and how they can grow and prosper despite the odds seemingly being stacked against them.
